| Sweet jesus just sat through another hour of Grease! reality style. Lord you'd swear Renee was helming this event. Yet of course I watch. And of course Annalisa and I will be seeing the revival live. Don't judge.
Seen too much theatre to remember lately to be honest. It's my crack. Also going to Baltimore in and out for the next four weeks to work the Wicked tour, why not.
Vegas came and went; it really was wonderous. Celine and KA failed us again...but the buffets, crepes, and spa did not.
Saw the important stuff on the Golden Globes. Incredibly well-deserved: Jen Hudson, Eddie Murphy, America Ferrara, Ugly Betty/ Grey's, Meryl Streep, and Dame Mirren's wins. VanessaW and CameronD looked heinous. Jack Nicoldrunk's daughter was awkward, yet hot. Also caught Alpha Dog yesterday; actually a really gripping flick...a shame that the otherwise scrumptious Sharon Stone had to ruin the final moments in a fat suit.
and did I mention that Ina Garten sent a personalized autographed photo to the house?
I really don't like writing in LJ anymore. | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| SO enjoyable to see "Dreamgirls" (again) only with a Manayunk movie audience. Me as the minority and the fierce town residents around me screaming at the screen. Love it.
and for those who have been living under a rock, here's the link to the 2007 Oscar winner for Supporting Actress (yeah, I'll place bets) | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |
| Christmas was lovely. It really was. Back in town Philly-wise for work. Saw "Dreamgirls." Minor quibbles aside, I loved it. Perfectly cast. Classy film. In the same league as the "Chicago" film. Let's forget about the other movie musicals of late. Caught the Chicago tour in Philly, really trying to block it out. off to center city soon though to chat with the fabulous Velma who was out my performance and then proceeded to email me apologizing profusely, nice. New York again this coming Wednesday with ma mere et mon pere.
Work. ah dear sweet work. In the process of finalizing a third job for the down time in the winter. Have to miss a couple of desirable auditions due to Vegas, bah humbug. (snaps for Vegas though, I may urinate myself in anticipation) t'is fine, more desirable auditions coming up in late winter/early spring.
I don't make NYs resolutions, but I will have one this year. To keep a hard-copy journal. Keeping it real. Not the foolish stuff I post on my friend LJ. no offense LJ. you know I heart you. something to try.
and as always, to the individuals who affected me in a positive way throughout 2006, cheers to a smashing New Year in 2007 to the folks who were ridiculous and really not worth my energy in 2006, may you rot in 2007.
a toast...to the ladies who lunch. now everybody rise. happy new year dahling. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| Another week down in la great city, and no I don't mean Philly. T'was basically in and out all week. Had the chance to stay a few nights with The Face in Brooklyn, and was joined by Wifey later on. A grand time. not to mention I now own so many Buffalo souvenirs I should just move there... a quick rundown... Rags: a travesty of a concert and failure of an evening, thank god for Carolee and Eden Rent: returned just to see one of my favs, Tonya Dixon, step into the role of Joanne and she didn't dissapoint The Little Dog Laughed: my seat was nicely upgraded, fun play, and Julie White should win a Tony Hairspray: there was nothing else to see and well, this show always puts me in a good mood Company: loved every second of it, beautiful A Chorus Line: another return visit, loved it again The Apple Tree: boring show, but who can deny that Kristin Chenoweth is a goddess?
My parents weren't able to attend the cruise on Thursday after all, t'wasn't a good night. Work is eh. I'm just getting restless and unsatisfied. I want bigger, and I want to grow while doing it. (with a job at Tastdlite on the side, that's all I ask.)
I am finished most of my holiday shopping. Yet I'm still running around like a maniac. I loathe the people who shake the bells for money outside the stores and markets. oh yeah I also didn't give money to a homeless woman on the street and she preceeded to shout at me "go to church!" to which I replied back "get a house!"
I'm not a scrooge, I swear...mwah :) Happy Holidays to all xo | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |

| A minute to sit down and write a few updates/highlights of the past couple weeks. Keeping busy is a good thing. I just want my polish blanket and pillow...really badly.
My birthday came and went, which is how I like it. I'm 2...3 right? I always forget. Fortunately, I had 12 hours on the boat that day to keep my mind off it. The Spirit team could not have been sweeter. seriously, only a month working there and I was treated like royalty. exactly what I don't enjoy, but darling nonetheless ;P
Been back and forth to home home on my time off. Caught Urinetown at TU, an all-around fabulous production. And because I like these kind of movies, definitely recommended is Saw3 (don't judge). I totally want to see the all-star delish looking Holiday, but it ain't playing anywhere near me. don't even get me started on how hard I am for the upcoming Dreamgirls. Also recommended reading: "Magical Thinking" by Augusten Burroughs...not quite as stellar as "Running with Scissors" but far more witty and enjoyable than "Dry." Now onto HP6. if Dumbledore were real, he'd be one of my best friends.
Still cruisin' along, with up to five shifts a weekend. bless the holidays. The family unit is coming on comps lata this week and I couldn't be more jazzed. Things will soon slow down...granted I'll miss the $$situation, but a break from the work ethic of some will be warranted and healthy.
Will be MIA until Thursday morning. I'll be in and out of New York so much this week that I just decided to stay dans la citay and save on train fare multiple trips. New stuff and old standbys to be seen this week, comments will follow I'm sure. seeing the parentals as well, with show tickets as one of their early Xmas gifts. and the week will end with Wifey flying in for a weekend extravaganza. I'm all a twitter! now when is the official move? guess I can't get too ahead of myself. but a new york loft wrapped in a big red bow for Christmas would be divine. aaand scene.
Crafty me just got finished making gift goodybags in decorative chink food boxes. Martha would be proud. Sandra Lee might be even more proud. | comments: 3 comments or Leave a comment |

| Back from Mel's birthday celebration in the Big Apple. A lovely day. Saw Les Miz, and it's honestly still a grand piece of theatre. Still mulling about the principal cast, left feeling rather underwhelmed.
Kudos to DHW for another fabulous episode. I truly am enjoying this season more than the last.
And I'm not usually one for gossip in LaLaWood, but I delighted in the latest: http://mediatakeout.com/Exclusives/Beyonce_Dreamgirls.html

| Yeah I only watched the parade for two reasons, to see my Amazon and my Anastasia. Yucky weather today. And I couldn't help but wishing I could use Wednesday Addams' line "we cannot break bread with you" at some point this holiday, before wrecking havoc. A lovely day had by all.
here's some things off the top of my head that I'm thankful for at this juncture in time: werking two jobs...and enjoying them having money (I can pretend) caramel apple fudge Spirit Cruises Philadelphia being #1 in entertainment of the entire fleet the genuinely nice co-workers who literally make the experience a december weekend with Yumm-O and Tartface, aka Raul and Kristin Cheno quality time with Annalisa, twice in one month! Vegas!January. and the Bellagio Buffet. RIP Splash. Ina apple crisp. our first real pet Sasha, and her first Thanksgiving pie pie pie. claire claire claire. Danar Venue, even though I never see her. not living in a life of routine for once and not knowing what tomorrow will bring friends who understand you and complete you family that loves you no matter what you throw at them and of course ABC Thursday night t.v.

now to drive back to Philly... | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| My heart is still warmed from today.
Went into the city yesterday to see the final installment of The Cartells. Elizabeth Berkley, aka my reason for going, was MIA, the whore. Her replacement sucked, but thank god for Joanna Gleason, playing a dominatrix butch wife named Titsiana. There were enough other familiar faces in the show (Cheyenne, Krizter, Frechette, etc.) to keep me entertained.
Today Mel and I ventured to KOP to meet the one and only queen of the Hamptons, Ina Garten. Mission accomplished. and that's one thing I can cross off my lifelist. I was so awe-struck by her jolliness that I don't even remember what I said to her. An experience I will never forget.
and speaking of gems, RIP Laurie Metcalfe. DHW was fabulous this weekend.
that is all. | comments: 4 comments or Leave a comment |
| This weekend...long, busy, hectic, fabulous, all in one. let's do un petit run-down shall we.
Friday...Picked Annalisa up at the airport, joined some lovely alumni at Houli's for a cocktail (or six), and then off to Assassins at school. Quick comments on the show: the one thing I'll give RD is that her shows move, though I doubt half the people in the audience had a clue what was going on (it sucks for the students who have to write papers). The show was filled with some genuinely terrific performances, as well as a couple of perfectly contrived and generic performances; all-surface with nothing going on underneath. The night was young, so we spent the rest of the evening on Main St drankin' and looking yummy.
Saturday...Horrible night sleep and, woot, a double show day. My morning on the boat was horrendous; I had to isolate myself because I wanted to spoon my eyes out. The evening was 10x better and I had a ball. I'm still getting my feet wet with the whole thing, but when with the right people (who aren't shady or fake), it's fabulous. I was a zombie when I returned home, so sleep was a glorious thing.
Sunday...Brunch at Le Bus followed by Annalisa's departure. We ventured to NYC where we took in The Wedding Singer (Nicolette as Linda = mmmmmm), and meal time at John's with Sarah. I guess I should mention that A and I ate two pints of ice cream in our seats at intermission. i love the flavor.
and now here I sit, off soon to center city and then who knows what for the rest of the day. It was an absolute joy to see many old SJU friends this weekend. my heart was truly warmed. and happy birthday (again) to Mel and Annalisa...as Samantha Jones would say, aren't they fabulous? | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| Fuck the NJ Transit today. Late late late and all sorts of unexplained technical issues.
Arrived in the city today at 1:58, was at my show by 2:08. Decided to snag the last Standing Room for The Wedding Singer. Granted I missed the opening number, but oh well. thought Constantine was awful, and the two leads were out (go figure Ms. Benanti), but Kevin Kern and Tina Maddigan were lovely, per usual. I thoroughly enjoy this show. and would see it a third time.
And for one who saw Emily Skinner's u/s in Side Show, it was a thrill to see Emily and Alice reunited live tonight at Town Hall. A lovely concert. It really did warm my heart. Alice looked fab, Emily's chest was delicious, as was her rendition of "Sleepy Man." and of course Melanie Hopkins was in attendance ;)
I start officially tomorrow on SPIRIT. For real. Let's just say my morning will be filled with the sounds of Michael Jackson, the Temptations, and Gloria Estafon ;) bon voyage. | comments: 2 comments or Leave a comment |
| well Kati girl's LJ said it well, so I'm plagiarizing
i just feel like things are a little out of control right now... maybe a lot...
This week hasn't been good. I've been keeping busy, which is a plus, but I'm just plain worn out. Eden's final on Sunday was incredible, but then the migraine began. I feel like it hindered what had the potential to be a great audition on Monday. Ana's first on Tuesday was less than incredible. the migraine continued...the blurred vision kind, what I used to get them all time. Rehearsals for Spirit are going swell; I learned the show in a few hours via Wednesday (and am still learning), and I start officially next Sunday. The added solos and tour guide stuff will fall into place. As I type, I'm on break from a day of shadowing, and I'll return to the ship tonight. There's Uno's as well. I was going to go on my second audition of the week tomorrow and then see Jersey Boys, but fuck it. I need a personal day. I want to see my family right about now, and my cat, and Annalisa, and Left Bank. so I am going home tomorra. it's for the best. turkey lurkey here I come.
now come shake your body baby do the conga. | comments: 1 comment or Leave a comment |

| Laura Bell Bundy is officially taking on the role of Elle Woods in Legally Blonde the musical. Girl will be fabulous.
now taking London by storm, Jessica Simpson is that you?
and I lost 90% of my movie channels!! Time Warner...Comcast...whatever you are...CURSES on you!
in other news...
two auditions this week, two more in the coming week (let's not even talk about the business next week shall we...k, grool.) so about this audition thing...
it's been going well...as well as it can I suppose. some have been fabulous, others a travesty. it's a ginormous pool of people at all of these things, some with years of training, some with just the opposite. some seem lovely, others I just want to kick in the face. when I see someone I recognize from another audition, our eyes meet, and I'm sure we're both thinking "here's to a good audition...I hope I'm the one to get it." you wait for sometimes hours, go in, do your thing, come out...and it's onto the next one. it's lovely to be out there with people who genuinely adore the trade...not mediocre creatures who are handed roles without trying.
each audition is a new experience to get myself out there, and to gain exactly that...the exposure and the experience even if very little comes of these endeavours, there's always the uncertain but welcoming future. life isn't always a bowl of cherries, but it's fun living on the edge (trying) to do what I heart
on that note, I was actually offered a job this past week. Starting this fall, I'll be performing "cruise-ly" on the Spirit of Philadelphia in their show; first their standard revue and then we roll out the holiday show. I am honestly not sure of all the details, but I rehearse next week from 10-5 and start my shadow days. They seem very accomodating, and I'll be able to keep a few shifts at Unos. I believe this cruise thing last thru April. and like I said, I'm pretty ignorant of how the whole thing works. but come sail away...bon voyage moonface.
and on that note I have to pee...cheers. | comments: 7 comments or Leave a comment |
